About

The story

Amor Prohibido is a Selena tribute band based in San Diego, California. The band has been playing together for over 6 years and has been active since 2014, focusing on Selena’s music with an emphasis on accuracy.

Fronted by Nira Perez, the show is built around a strong visual and vocal resemblance to Selena, along with the mannerisms associated with her performances. Fans describe Amor Prohibido as delivering a close experience to the original Selena-fronted lineup.

The set centers on the 90s era when Selena’s music ruled the airwaves. With seven musicians on stage, Amor Prohibido offers a full tribute format that is easy for buyers to place for Selena-focused tribute bookings, 90s-themed events, and audiences looking for familiar songs performed with close attention to the original feel.
